Every brand here started with a story worth telling. Some were built side-by-side with real clients. Others are passion projects, concepts I dreamed up to explore how design can bring small-town quirks, values, and routines to life.

Whether rooted in real businesses or imagined ones, each project shows how branding can feel familiar, welcoming, and true to its people.

Real and imagined.

Small-town stories.

Hillview

Family-owned bowling alley honoring tradition while embracing the future.

For Hillview, everything starts with their league family. I built a bold yet vintage identity with deep reds for tradition, blues for welcome, and a handmade wordmark that hides a bowling pin in the “H.” It’s modern energy without losing the heritage their regulars hold dear.

Outsidey

Outdoor outfitter for folks who love the idea of the outdoors.

Sarcastic, unserious, and full of winks! This brand leans into the cliché “outdoorsy” look with earthy colors but flips it with playful iconography, like a disheveled raccoon stealing a s’more. It’s a perfect match for the not-so-hardcore adventurer.

Mystic Marrow Studio

Fine art with baroque drama and a mischievous streak.

Mystic Marrow merges classical influence with modern subjects. I layered rich textures, a mysterious fox mascot, and tongue-in-cheek icons (like a canvas on fire) to capture the artist’s raw authenticity. The result: a brand as bold and enchanting as her work.

Penny Lane Bakery

Your grandma’s recipes reimagined for today.

Rooted in family heritage and small-town comfort, Penny Lane balances nostalgia with modern warmth. Hand-drawn Americana illustrations and a softened flag-inspired palette honor both tradition and Instagram-ready charm.

Find & Rewind

90s girlhood, tangled VHS tape and all.

This shop channels peak nostalgia: neon-orca patterns, scrunchie-wrapped VHS tapes, and Lisa Frank-esque colors. It’s playful, wacky, and just elevated enough to feel like the grown-up version of your childhood binder cover.

Rutherford Landscaping

Built around the owner’s goofy-but-hardworking personality, Rutherford’s brand features a quirky possum mascot complete with safety goggles. It’s unexpected, memorable, and perfectly captures the charm that won the community’s trust.

A little scrappy, a lot reliable.

Railside Roasters

Coffee with a ticket to adventure.

Inspired by the owner’s childhood train journeys, this brand weaves railway nostalgia into every detail. A coffee bean conductor mascot anchors the suite, with navy and yellow tones tying together the themes of travel, warmth, and storytelling.

Quacked Comedy

A comedy club where women lead the laughs.

Bright yellows and fiery reds set the tone for a bold, unapologetic space. From a duck-microphone logo to cheeky taglines (“I am comedienne, hear me quack”), the brand celebrates women in comedy with wit and edge.

Golden Hour

Golf that puts family at the heart of the game.

Instead of sidelining kids, Golden Hour celebrates them. Think Miami Vice colors with playful sophistication, anchored by a flying idol logo that blends freedom, fun, and loyalty. A golf brand that feels just as inviting as a family pool day.

[Yaya is] always quick to respond, open to feedback, and great at explaining things in a way that just clicks. Her design work totally blew me away and brought new life to my brand. I have received more commission requests since the branding update.

FAQs...

I could but that would be like handing you only the cover of a book. A logo without a story, colors, or fonts behind it won’t carry your brand far. My work is about giving you a whole system, not a single piece.

Templates can be fun for quick experiments, but they’re built to be generic. Your business deserves more than “good enough.” I create brands that feel like they already belong in your town, with visuals rooted in your story. That’s something a template just can’t do.

Why not just grab a Canva or AI template?

Nope. Trends fade, but your story won’t. My work leans on timeless, people-first design so your brand feels familiar and future-ready, not dated next season.
